What Information ACDelco Battery Collects From You

At ACDelco Battery, we collect three categories of information to help you find the right automotive battery for your vehicle and to maintain our position as a trusted source for professional-grade power solutions.

Information You Provide Directly: When you reach out through our contact form or subscribe to battery maintenance tips and product launch announcements, you share your name, email address, and any vehicle details or questions you include in your message. We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry and provide relevant battery recommendations.

Information Collected Automatically: As you browse our battery catalog—whether you’re comparing AGM specifications, reading about Professional Gold series features, or checking group size compatibility—our systems automatically record your device type, browser version, IP address, pages visited, and time spent reviewing different battery categories. This usage data helps us understand which automotive battery resources are most valuable to mechanics, fleet managers, and vehicle owners.

Information From Third Parties: We participate in the Amazon Associates Program, and when you click through to purchase an ACDelco battery on Amazon, affiliate tracking technologies record that referral. Amazon’s systems may share anonymized conversion data with us (a purchase occurred via our referral link), but we do not receive your Amazon account details, payment information, or shipping address from these transactions.

02

How ACDelco Battery Uses Your Information

Every piece of information we collect serves a specific purpose in helping us deliver better battery guidance and maintain the ACDelco Battery resource you’ve come to rely on.

We use your contact information to respond to technical questions about cold cranking amps, reserve capacity ratings, or installation procedures for specific GM vehicle platforms. When you’ve subscribed to our updates, we send announcements about new Professional series releases, warranty program changes, or seasonal battery maintenance reminders—always with a clear unsubscribe option.

The browsing data we collect reveals which battery categories generate the most interest (AGM technology documentation versus conventional flooded batteries, truck-specific models versus compact car applications), which vehicle-specific battery pages answer the questions you’re searching for, and where visitors encounter confusion in our group size reference materials. This insight drives our content development—if mechanics frequently land on our 94RAGM page after searching “Silverado battery upgrade,” we know to expand that vehicle-battery pairing coverage.

Affiliate commission data (aggregated, not individual) helps us understand which battery models and series resonate most with our audience, informing which ACDelco products we feature most prominently and which comparison guides we prioritize creating.

03

Cookies and Tracking Technologies ACDelco Battery Uses

ACDelco Battery uses cookies—small text files stored on your device—to remember your preferences and improve your experience across multiple visits to our automotive battery resource.

Essential Cookies: These enable basic site functionality like remembering which battery comparison filters you’ve applied or maintaining your session as you navigate from our automotive battery collection to specific group size pages. You cannot disable these without breaking core site features.

Analytics Cookies: We use Google Analytics to track aggregate visitor behavior—how many people read our AGM battery maintenance guide versus our warranty claim instructions, which battery specification charts hold attention longest, where visitors exit our comparison tools. These cookies do not identify you personally; they help us understand patterns across thousands of monthly visitors.

Advertising and Affiliate Cookies: When you click an Amazon product link from our site, Amazon’s tracking cookies record that referral to credit us with any resulting battery purchase. These cookies also enable Amazon to show you retargeting ads for ACDelco batteries you viewed through our recommendations. We do not control Amazon’s cookie practices—their own privacy policy governs that data collection.

Managing Your Cookie Preferences: Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings menu (typically under Privacy or Security). Blocking all cookies will prevent some site features from working correctly, like our battery finder tool’s ability to remember your vehicle make and model between sessions. Blocking third-party cookies will prevent affiliate tracking but won’t affect your ability to browse our battery specifications and educational content.

04

When ACDelco Battery Shares Your Information

We limit information sharing to the partners essential for operating this automotive battery resource and complying with legal obligations.

Service Providers: Our web hosting company (which stores all site content and processes page requests), our email service provider (which delivers battery maintenance newsletters to subscribers), and Google Analytics (which aggregates visitor behavior data) all receive limited access to the information necessary to perform their specific functions. These partners are contractually prohibited from using your data for their own purposes.

Affiliate Partners: Amazon receives referral data when you click through from ACDelco Battery to their product pages—specifically, which battery model link you clicked and the timestamp of that click. This allows Amazon to credit our affiliate account if you complete a purchase, and it enables them to show you relevant battery ads based on your browsing. We do not share your email address, contact form messages, or any other personal information with Amazon beyond what their referral tracking automatically captures.

Legal Requirements: We will disclose information if required by subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of ACDelco Battery users, investigate fraud or security incidents, or comply with government investigations.

We do not sell your personal information to data brokers, marketing firms, or other third parties. We do not rent our email subscriber list. We do not share your vehicle details or battery questions with manufacturers or dealerships.

05

How ACDelco Battery Protects Your Data

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect the information you entrust to us, recognizing that while no online system is completely invulnerable, responsible data handling requires multiple layers of protection.

All data transmitted between your browser and our servers—whether you’re submitting a contact form or subscribing to battery updates—travels over encrypted HTTPS connections. Our hosting infrastructure employs firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and regular security patching to defend against unauthorized access. Access to our database (which stores subscriber email addresses and contact form submissions) is restricted to essential personnel and protected by strong authentication requirements.

We retain your contact form messages only as long as needed to respond to your inquiry—typically 90 days unless your question requires extended follow-up. Email subscription records remain active until you unsubscribe. Usage data and analytics are retained in aggregated form indefinitely to help us track long-term trends in battery technology interest and vehicle platform changes.

If we experience a data breach that compromises personal information—subscriber emails, contact form content, or any identifiable user data—we will notify affected individuals within 72 hours via email and post a public notice on our homepage explaining what information was exposed, what steps we’ve taken to secure our systems, and what actions you should consider taking.

06

Your Privacy Rights Under Multiple Frameworks

ACDelco Battery complies with privacy regulations across multiple jurisdictions, giving you specific rights over your personal information regardless of where you live.

Rights for All Users: Every visitor to ACDelco Battery can request a copy of the personal information we hold about them, ask us to correct inaccurate information, request deletion of their data (subject to legal retention requirements), and opt out of email communications at any time via the unsubscribe link in every message.

GDPR Rights (European Union Residents): If you’re accessing ACDelco Battery from the EU, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation: the right to restrict how we process your data, the right to data portability (receiving your information in a machine-readable format), the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. We process your data based on your consent (when you submit forms or subscribe), contractual necessity (when responding to your battery inquiries), and legitimate interests (analyzing aggregate usage to improve our automotive battery resources).

CCPA and CPRA Rights (California Residents): Under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to know whether we sell or share your personal information (we do not sell it; we share referral data with Amazon as described in section 04), the right to opt out of any such sharing, the right to delete your personal information, the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right to limit use of sensitive personal information (we do not collect sensitive categories like health data, financial data, or precise geolocation). You have the right to non-discrimination—we will not deny you service, charge different prices, or provide lower-quality battery information because you exercised your CCPA rights.

VCDPA, CPA, CTDPA, and UCPA Rights (Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and Utah Residents): If you live in Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, or Utah, your state’s comprehensive privacy law grants you similar rights: access to your personal data, correction of inaccuracies, deletion of your data, data portability, and the ability to opt out of targeted advertising and the sale of personal data. While we do not sell personal information, our affiliate relationship with Amazon involves sharing referral data that may constitute “targeted advertising” under these state definitions. You can opt out by disabling third-party cookies in your browser settings or by contacting us to suppress affiliate tracking on your future visits.

How to Exercise These Rights: Email your request to privacy@acdelcobatterystore.com with “Privacy Rights Request” in the subject line. Include your full name, the email address associated with any subscriptions or contact form submissions, and a clear description of which right you’re exercising (access, deletion, correction, opt-out). We will verify your identity by confirming control of the email address in question, respond within 45 days for most requests (30 days for CCPA requests), and provide the requested information or confirmation of action taken in a commonly used electronic format.

07

Children’s Privacy at ACDelco Battery

ACDelco Battery focuses exclusively on automotive battery specifications, installation procedures, and professional-grade power solutions—content designed for mechanics, fleet managers, and vehicle owners, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 years of age.

Our contact forms, newsletter subscriptions, and all interactive features are intended solely for adult use in the context of vehicle maintenance and battery selection. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13—for example, if a minor submitted a contact form asking about battery specifications for a school project—we will delete that information immediately upon identification.

Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided personal information to ACDelco Battery should contact us immediately at the address below, and we will remove that information from our systems within 48 hours.

08

Third-Party Sites Beyond ACDelco Battery

ACDelco Battery includes links to Amazon product pages (where you can purchase the batteries we feature), to manufacturer specification sheets (for detailed technical data), and occasionally to automotive forums or technical resources (when answering specific battery questions). Once you click any of these outbound links, you leave our site and enter a third party’s domain governed by their own privacy policy.

We cannot control and are not responsible for the privacy practices of Amazon, General Motors, automotive forum operators, or any other external site. Before providing personal information to any third-party site—especially payment details on Amazon or account registration on forums—review their privacy policy to understand how they collect, use, and protect your data.

Amazon’s affiliate tracking (described in sections 01, 03, and 04) operates according to Amazon’s privacy practices, which include retargeting ads, purchase history tracking, and integration with their broader e-commerce ecosystem. While we benefit from affiliate commissions when you purchase ACDelco batteries through our referral links, we do not receive or control any of the personal information you provide to Amazon during checkout.

09

International Data Transfers for ACDelco Battery

ACDelco Battery operates from the United States, and all information you provide—contact form submissions, email subscriptions, and automatically collected usage data—is stored on servers physically located in the United States. If you access our automotive battery resources from outside the US (whether from the European Union, Canada, Australia, or any other country), your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed within the United States.

The United States does not have an “adequacy decision” under GDPR—meaning the EU does not consider US data protection laws equivalent to its own standards. However, we implement the safeguards described throughout this policy (encryption in transit, limited sharing with service providers, respect for GDPR rights as detailed in section 06) to protect your information regardless of where you’re located.

By using ACDelco Battery from outside the United States, you acknowledge and consent to this international transfer and understand that US government entities may have broader access to data stored on US servers than would be permitted under your home country’s laws, particularly under national security and law enforcement frameworks.

10

How Long ACDelco Battery Keeps Your Information

We retain different categories of information for different periods based on their purpose and legal requirements.

Contact Form Submissions: We keep your message, email address, and any vehicle details you shared for 90 days after sending our response. This allows us to reference the conversation if you follow up with additional battery questions. After 90 days, we delete the message unless you’ve explicitly requested extended support or ongoing consultation (for example, if you’re a fleet manager evaluating ACDelco battery adoption across multiple vehicle types).

Email Subscriptions: Your email address and subscription preferences remain in our system until you unsubscribe. We do not automatically purge inactive subscribers—if you signed up for battery maintenance tips five years ago but haven’t opened our emails recently, you’ll still receive new announcements until you click “unsubscribe.”

Usage and Analytics Data: We retain aggregated, anonymized usage data indefinitely. This includes statistics like “620 visitors viewed the AGM battery collection page in March 2026” or “average time spent on the 48PG product page is 2 minutes 14 seconds.” Because this data cannot identify individuals, it does not fall under personal information retention limits and helps us track long-term trends in battery technology interest.

Server Logs: Raw server logs (which include IP addresses, timestamps, and page requests) are retained for 30 days for security monitoring and troubleshooting purposes, then automatically deleted.

11

ACDelco Battery Email Communications

When you subscribe to our email list—whether through a newsletter signup form or by opting in when submitting a contact form—you’ll receive periodic updates about ACDelco battery products, automotive power technology developments, and seasonal maintenance reminders (like cold-weather battery prep or summer heat considerations).

Typical email frequency is one message every 2-4 weeks, with higher frequency during major product launches (like a new Professional series release) or significant warranty program changes. You’ll never receive daily emails, and we do not send promotional messages on behalf of third parties (no battery accessory vendors, no unrelated automotive products).

Every email includes a clear “Unsubscribe” link in the footer. Clicking it immediately removes your email address from our list—you won’t receive a confirmation message or follow-up survey. The unsubscribe is permanent until you manually re-subscribe through a form on our site.

Even after unsubscribing from marketing emails, you may still receive transactional messages if you submit a contact form (we need to send our reply to your battery question), but we will not add you back to the marketing list without explicit opt-in.

12

Do Not Track Signals and ACDelco Battery

Some web browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting that sends a signal to websites requesting they disable tracking. Because there is no universal standard for how websites should interpret or respond to Do Not Track signals, ACDelco Battery does not currently alter its data collection practices in response to Do Not Track browser settings.

However, you can achieve similar outcomes through the methods described in section 03 (blocking analytics and advertising cookies in your browser settings) and section 06 (exercising opt-out rights under state privacy laws). These approaches provide more granular control than the Do Not Track signal and directly address the specific tracking technologies used on our site.

13

Updates to the ACDelco Battery Privacy Policy

As privacy regulations evolve, as we add new site features (like interactive battery selector tools), or as our service provider relationships change, we may update this Privacy Policy to reflect those developments.

When we make material changes—like adding a new category of information collection, expanding how we share data, or altering your rights in ways that reduce protection—we will post a prominent notice on our homepage for 30 days and email active subscribers explaining the changes. For minor updates (like clarifying existing language or adding new jurisdiction-specific requirements that don’t change actual practices), we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy without additional notification.

Your continued use of ACDelco Battery after a Privacy Policy update goes into effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms. If you disagree with material changes, your remedy is to stop using the site and request deletion of your information under section 06.

We recommend reviewing this Privacy Policy periodically—particularly if you’re a regular visitor or email subscriber—to stay informed about how we protect your information as our automotive battery resource grows.
